Narrative:
Prior to departure from gate, a small door covering some fuses by the right overwing exit was discovered loose. A mechanic was called. This was during boarding. The flight was oversold and late. The copilot and I continued preparation for departure and were ready, waiting for the mechanic to finish. He returned to the cockpit and said that everything was finished and we were good to go. The jetway was pulled and we pushed back. After engine start we got an ACARS message from maintenance that the log coupon was not fully completed by the mechanic and we had to return to the blocks to finish the paperwork. We returned and the paperwork was properly updated. When the mechanic told us he was finished and we were ready, I did not check the log coupon to verify he had finished. We were being rushed to depart, as connections were going to be missed and the copilot and I were also busy with maintenance verifying the status of another deferred item.
