Narrative:
ZDC cleared us to 11000 ft with expect to cross argal intersection at 10000 ft. Center immediately came back and said 'cross argal intersection at 10000 ft, and we will see traffic at 9000 ft (1000 ft below us) at argal.' upon crossing argal, we saw a target approaching our aircraft on TCASII at 10000 ft. Without a deviation we would have possibly been on a collision course. ZDC switched us to rdu approach control where they gave us an immediate hard l-hand turn and the seneca a turn in the opposite direction. We never saw the seneca! Our TCASII did respond appropriately. Rdu approach questioned us as to why we were at 10000 ft and not 11000 ft. We advised him as to our clearance from center to 10000 ft. Approach said they would look into it. I believe the problem arose due to miscom between the center controller and the approach controller. We (the flight crew) are just very happy that we had TCASII and were able to adjust our path for the seneca.

Title: CARJ FLC INITIATE EVASIVE MANEUVER DUE TO SAME ALT, CONFLICTING PA34 AT TIME OF XFER FROM ZDC TO RDU.
Narrative: ZDC CLRED US TO 11000 FT WITH EXPECT TO CROSS ARGAL INTXN AT 10000 FT. CTR IMMEDIATELY CAME BACK AND SAID 'CROSS ARGAL INTXN AT 10000 FT, AND WE WILL SEE TFC AT 9000 FT (1000 FT BELOW US) AT ARGAL.' UPON XING ARGAL, WE SAW A TARGET APCHING OUR ACFT ON TCASII AT 10000 FT. WITHOUT A DEV WE WOULD HAVE POSSIBLY BEEN ON A COLLISION COURSE. ZDC SWITCHED US TO RDU APCH CTL WHERE THEY GAVE US AN IMMEDIATE HARD L-HAND TURN AND THE SENECA A TURN IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION. WE NEVER SAW THE SENECA! OUR TCASII DID RESPOND APPROPRIATELY. RDU APCH QUESTIONED US AS TO WHY WE WERE AT 10000 FT AND NOT 11000 FT. WE ADVISED HIM AS TO OUR CLRNC FROM CTR TO 10000 FT. APCH SAID THEY WOULD LOOK INTO IT. I BELIEVE THE PROB AROSE DUE TO MISCOM BTWN THE CTR CTLR AND THE APCH CTLR. WE (THE FLC) ARE JUST VERY HAPPY THAT WE HAD TCASII AND WERE ABLE TO ADJUST OUR PATH FOR THE SENECA.
