Narrative:

On approach vectors on downwind notice of loss oil pressure (dropping into yellow arc) on #2 engine. Due to possible long final and possible oil loss causing shutdown, emergency was declared. An immediate descent and vector for final were given. Pressure never dropped below minimum pressure until past FAF. Approach was continued without shutdown. After a safe and normal landing, engine was shut down. Due to training and a very helpful and qualified first officer, as soon as problem was detected we did not delay doing emergency checklists and getting help from ATC with the emergency. Company procedures and training helped immensely. A relaxed yet very alert cockpit allowed us to effectively handle the situation without hurrying or missing important details. After inspection by maintenance, an oil line to the low pressure sensor was found to have been cracked causing a loss of oil and pressure. I feel that the timely reaction and calmness in handling this saved a possible engine shutdown and/or engine fire.

Narrative: ON APCH VECTORS ON DOWNWIND NOTICE OF LOSS OIL PRESSURE (DROPPING INTO YELLOW ARC) ON #2 ENG. DUE TO POSSIBLE LONG FINAL AND POSSIBLE OIL LOSS CAUSING SHUTDOWN, EMER WAS DECLARED. AN IMMEDIATE DSCNT AND VECTOR FOR FINAL WERE GIVEN. PRESSURE NEVER DROPPED BELOW MINIMUM PRESSURE UNTIL PAST FAF. APCH WAS CONTINUED WITHOUT SHUTDOWN. AFTER A SAFE AND NORMAL LNDG, ENG WAS SHUT DOWN. DUE TO TRAINING AND A VERY HELPFUL AND QUALIFIED FO, AS SOON AS PROB WAS DETECTED WE DID NOT DELAY DOING EMER CHKLISTS AND GETTING HELP FROM ATC WITH THE EMER. COMPANY PROCS AND TRAINING HELPED IMMENSELY. A RELAXED YET VERY ALERT COCKPIT ALLOWED US TO EFFECTIVELY HANDLE THE SIT WITHOUT HURRYING OR MISSING IMPORTANT DETAILS.
