Narrative:
Seatac airport has 2 parallel runways, runway 16L and runway 17R. After landing, we cleared runway 16R at intersection M between the runways. Tower cleared us to cross runway 16L and enter the taxiway behind a B737 which was taxiing northbound. My first officer read back the clearance. I was looking down runway 16L making sure it was clear and did not hear the part about passing behind the B737. I taxied in front of the B737 and they had to stop. It was my fault in not catching that last part of the taxi clearance and being in a little of a rush to clear runway 16L. A contributing factor also was a failure of crew coordination. The first officer might have prevented the situation by informing me to pass behind the B737 and not in front of it. Afterward, we did have a discussion about the event and [the need to] coordinate more closely on all clrncs. I now verify all taxi clrncs with the first officer so there is no misunderstanding on my part.

Title: A DHC-8 CAPT RPTED THAT HE CUT OFF A B737 WHILE TAXIING AT SEA.
Narrative: SEATAC ARPT HAS 2 PARALLEL RWYS, RWY 16L AND RWY 17R. AFTER LNDG, WE CLRED RWY 16R AT INTXN M BTWN THE RWYS. TWR CLRED US TO CROSS RWY 16L AND ENTER THE TXWY BEHIND A B737 WHICH WAS TAXIING NBOUND. MY FO READ BACK THE CLRNC. I WAS LOOKING DOWN RWY 16L MAKING SURE IT WAS CLR AND DID NOT HEAR THE PART ABOUT PASSING BEHIND THE B737. I TAXIED IN FRONT OF THE B737 AND THEY HAD TO STOP. IT WAS MY FAULT IN NOT CATCHING THAT LAST PART OF THE TAXI CLRNC AND BEING IN A LITTLE OF A RUSH TO CLR RWY 16L. A CONTRIBUTING FACTOR ALSO WAS A FAILURE OF CREW COORD. THE FO MIGHT HAVE PREVENTED THE SIT BY INFORMING ME TO PASS BEHIND THE B737 AND NOT IN FRONT OF IT. AFTERWARD, WE DID HAVE A DISCUSSION ABOUT THE EVENT AND [THE NEED TO] COORDINATE MORE CLOSELY ON ALL CLRNCS. I NOW VERIFY ALL TAXI CLRNCS WITH THE FO SO THERE IS NO MISUNDERSTANDING ON MY PART.
