Narrative:
First officer's second trip. Experienced captain. Captain never called for 'flaps 5 degrees' prior to taxi. Rushed taxi from dal gate to runway 31L. First officer running behind/trying to stay up with captain. Captain calls for pretkof checklist. First officer reads all items but is rushed and reads checklist without checking each item visually. Captain responds to checklist 'position 5, green light, detent.' as we roll onto the runway and the captain brings up the power (his leg/rolling takeoff), takeoff confign warning sounds -- flaps are up, not at position 5. Takeoff rejected at 10 KTS. We taxi off of runway, reconfigure, accomplish checklist thoroughly and takeoff for houston. Both captain and first officer rushing the checklist too much. Captain responding but not visually checking. Same for first officer. We needed to slow down instead of rushing things so much. Captain expected first officer to know to go to flaps 5 degrees on taxi call. First officer's inexperience kept this from happening.
