Narrative:
I was leaving ftg on an IFR flight plan. I had filed from ftg direct mile high VOR then direct gill VOR then direct cys VOR with a full stop landing at cys. As I got the clearance from den clearance delivery, the controller or delivery person seemed unsure of the clearance he wanted to give me. Ultimately, he cleared me as filed and to maintain 070 degrees and to contact departure after takeoff. I wasn't in the air more than a min or two when the controller started yelling. He asked me where I was going and that I was supposed to be on a 080 degree heading. I politely returned the call and said that I had been cleared as filed. He came back and said that he had not cleared me as filed and that he gave me a 080 degree heading when he told me to turn 080 degrees. There were no serious traffic conflicts that I am aware of. The rest of the flight was uneventful.
