Narrative:

We were inbound to killeen, tx. We were vectored out to the southwest of the airport which is very unusual. The airport is uncontrolled. Turning inbound, ATC told us the airport was 11 O' clock and about 10 mi. We saw an airport in the area that was aligned similarly to killeen. ATC cleared us for a visual and told us to change to advisory. We realized that we were getting close to the wrong airport and left pattern altitude. Unicom advised us to contact approach. We landed with no further pros. We never entered the wrong airport's traffic area nor left pattern altitude. ATC didn't mention anything else about it.
