Narrative:
Returning from french valley airport (F70) to pauma valley (95L), flying in the valley of palomar mountain, approximately 5 mi from 95L, I observed 4 engine 'fire bomber' at approximately 3 mi ahead flying large circles. Realizing they were likely on a mission and circling for a 'run' I began my descent to pauma valley airport, which would clear their activity vertically and horizontally. I also attempted radio contact to advise my position, and tell them I was landing at pauma valley, and would remain well clear. At that time, I observed a twin engine fire bomber passing me on my right, approximately 1/2 mi, at a high rate of speed. The aircraft had overtaken me from behind. He continued on and joined the 4 engine bomber well ahead and clear of my flight path. I continued my descent and landing at pauma valley without incident. I do not consider safety was ever compromised during this event.

Title: A PA18 PVT PLT ENTERS A POSSIBLE RESTR AREA THAT IS OCCUPIED BY 2 FIRE BOMBERS 2 MI FROM HIS DEST ARPT, 95L, CA.
Narrative: RETURNING FROM FRENCH VALLEY ARPT (F70) TO PAUMA VALLEY (95L), FLYING IN THE VALLEY OF PALOMAR MOUNTAIN, APPROX 5 MI FROM 95L, I OBSERVED 4 ENG 'FIRE BOMBER' AT APPROX 3 MI AHEAD FLYING LARGE CIRCLES. REALIZING THEY WERE LIKELY ON A MISSION AND CIRCLING FOR A 'RUN' I BEGAN MY DSCNT TO PAUMA VALLEY ARPT, WHICH WOULD CLR THEIR ACTIVITY VERTLY AND HORIZLY. I ALSO ATTEMPTED RADIO CONTACT TO ADVISE MY POS, AND TELL THEM I WAS LNDG AT PAUMA VALLEY, AND WOULD REMAIN WELL CLR. AT THAT TIME, I OBSERVED A TWIN ENG FIRE BOMBER PASSING ME ON MY R, APPROX 1/2 MI, AT A HIGH RATE OF SPD. THE ACFT HAD OVERTAKEN ME FROM BEHIND. HE CONTINUED ON AND JOINED THE 4 ENG BOMBER WELL AHEAD AND CLR OF MY FLT PATH. I CONTINUED MY DSCNT AND LNDG AT PAUMA VALLEY WITHOUT INCIDENT. I DO NOT CONSIDER SAFETY WAS EVER COMPROMISED DURING THIS EVENT.
