Narrative:
During final approach segment, flown in visual conditions by first officer, on his initial operating experience, aircraft was subject to changing winds with a 2 KT gain and loss. At 700 ft AGL, it was evident that a go around was necessary. During missed approach, ATC advised runway winds gusting 20+ KTS. At leveloff, the aircraft experienced a 5 KT/10 KT overspd while flaps were in transition from 20 degrees to 5 degrees flaps. Following subsequent landing, maintenance was advised of over speed event and an appropriate logbook write-up was completed. Maintenance personnel advised that overspd event, as described, was within limits. Airworthiness directive required no aircraft inspection. However, maintenance supervisor would be notified.

Title: OVERSPD EVENT OCCURRED WHEN B777 MADE A GAR DUE TO WINDSHEAR CONDITIONS AND FLAPS WERE IN TRANSITION FROM 20 DEGS TO 5 DEGS.
Narrative: DURING FINAL APCH SEGMENT, FLOWN IN VISUAL CONDITIONS BY FO, ON HIS INITIAL OPERATING EXPERIENCE, ACFT WAS SUBJECT TO CHANGING WINDS WITH A 2 KT GAIN AND LOSS. AT 700 FT AGL, IT WAS EVIDENT THAT A GAR WAS NECESSARY. DURING MISSED APCH, ATC ADVISED RWY WINDS GUSTING 20+ KTS. AT LEVELOFF, THE ACFT EXPERIENCED A 5 KT/10 KT OVERSPD WHILE FLAPS WERE IN TRANSITION FROM 20 DEGS TO 5 DEGS FLAPS. FOLLOWING SUBSEQUENT LNDG, MAINT WAS ADVISED OF OVER SPD EVENT AND AN APPROPRIATE LOGBOOK WRITE-UP WAS COMPLETED. MAINT PERSONNEL ADVISED THAT OVERSPD EVENT, AS DESCRIBED, WAS WITHIN LIMITS. AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE REQUIRED NO ACFT INSPECTION. HOWEVER, MAINT SUPVR WOULD BE NOTIFIED.
