Narrative:
As I went to make a good-bye PA, ZNY cleared us direct to beuty intersection. We complied and proceeded direct. As I was off frequency, ATC instructed us to cross beuty at 10000 ft. My first officer read back the clearance to cross beuty at 10000 ft, but did not relay this information to me. It was my leg and I took control of the aircraft after making the PA. Our ACARS was not working so, shortly after I took control of the aircraft back from the first officer, he went off frequency to talk to ramp and acquire gate and changeover information. Shortly after, he came back on the ATC frequency and, as we were approaching beuty, we were instructed to change to new york approach. After passing beuty, approach told us that ZNY instructed us to cross beuty at 10000 ft. It did not sound by our future xmissions that this event posed any complications. Speaking with my first officer about the crossing restr, he thought I had heard it and agreed that he should have been more aggressive about our complying with it.

MY FO READ BACK THE CLRNC TO CROSS BEUTY AT 10000 FT, BUT DID NOT RELAY THIS INFO TO ME. IT WAS MY LEG AND I TOOK CTL OF THE ACFT AFTER MAKING THE PA. OUR ACARS WAS NOT WORKING SO, SHORTLY AFTER I TOOK CTL OF THE ACFT BACK FROM THE FO, HE WENT OFF FREQ TO TALK TO RAMP AND ACQUIRE GATE AND CHANGEOVER INFO. SHORTLY AFTER, HE CAME BACK ON THE ATC FREQ AND, AS WE WERE APCHING BEUTY, WE WERE INSTRUCTED TO CHANGE TO NEW YORK APCH. AFTER PASSING BEUTY, APCH TOLD US THAT ZNY INSTRUCTED US TO CROSS BEUTY AT 10000 FT. IT DID NOT SOUND BY OUR FUTURE XMISSIONS THAT THIS EVENT POSED ANY COMPLICATIONS. SPEAKING WITH MY FO ABOUT THE XING RESTR, HE THOUGHT I HAD HEARD IT AND AGREED THAT HE SHOULD HAVE BEEN MORE AGGRESSIVE ABOUT OUR COMPLYING WITH IT.
