Narrative:
On climb out the departure procedure required a runway heading of 270 degrees be maintained. I was flying and requested heading mode on the FMS. The heading bug was set to 360 degrees and the flight director commanded a 90 degree right turn which I followed inappropriately. ATC advised me to turn back to 270 degrees, which I did immediately. My incorrect setting of heading bug was a factor.
