Narrative:
Vectored in high by approach for runway 33L at bwi. Requested and received clearance to go across runway 33L localizer to lose altitude. After maneuvering, lined up for runway 33R erroneously. Executed go around on short final, advised tower and were vectored right downwind for runway 33L. Normal landing. Discussed mishap with tower by phone, 'no problem, goodnight.' discovered lining up by ILS back-up. Coming in high, runway 33L&right clearly in sight, but after maneuvering and low, perception was lost. Advise: 1) stop visual approachs at night! 2) aviate, navigation, communicate. 3) let ATC leave you alone and go around, fly published missed approach. 4) following SOP's saved the day.
