Narrative:
I departed YYY en route to ZZZ via LORAN C direct at 7500 ft. Conditions along route were good VFR. In preflight briefing, XXX FSS said the only NOTAM for WWW was that the airport beacon was OTS. Descending into WWW approach said airport was notamed 'closed' because of accident and asked me to call WWW unicom regarding status of airport and report back to them. No response on unicom, but abeam on downwind, it was noted that damaged aircraft was in a nearby field and not on runway. Since runway was clear and unobstructed, I landed without incident. I told WWW approach that I had no response from WWW.
