Narrative:
After being cleared direct to the glj VOR, I was told to expect the ILS runway 12 approach into santa maria. The controller then began vectoring me for the approach. I asked if there was a reason for this. He stated that the reason was to help me get established on the final approach azimuth. I then asked for the full approach (teardrop procedure), which is faster, because there is no traffic ahead of me. He insisted on vectoring me, so I complied. Usually, we are cleared direct to guadalupe VOR and we either hold there and commence the approach from there. What bothered me was his poor attitude and less than professional conduct. On several occasions, this particular controller has caused problems by his lack of judgement and demeanor. I talked with the other pilots and we all agree that this person has a bad attitude and has caused unnecessary delays that tend to mushroom, and got progressively worse. I don't mind being vectored around, but a good reason for it works better than a weak excuse. If he wants to vector people around for no valid reason, he can go home and play ATC on his home computer.

Title: B190 CAPT CONCERNED WITH ZLA CTLR'S RESPONSE AND ATTITUDE WHEN QUESTIONED ABOUT APCH VECTORING.
Narrative: AFTER BEING CLRED DIRECT TO THE GLJ VOR, I WAS TOLD TO EXPECT THE ILS RWY 12 APCH INTO SANTA MARIA. THE CTLR THEN BEGAN VECTORING ME FOR THE APCH. I ASKED IF THERE WAS A REASON FOR THIS. HE STATED THAT THE REASON WAS TO HELP ME GET ESTABLISHED ON THE FINAL APCH AZIMUTH. I THEN ASKED FOR THE FULL APCH (TEARDROP PROC), WHICH IS FASTER, BECAUSE THERE IS NO TFC AHEAD OF ME. HE INSISTED ON VECTORING ME, SO I COMPLIED. USUALLY, WE ARE CLRED DIRECT TO GUADALUPE VOR AND WE EITHER HOLD THERE AND COMMENCE THE APCH FROM THERE. WHAT BOTHERED ME WAS HIS POOR ATTITUDE AND LESS THAN PROFESSIONAL CONDUCT. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, THIS PARTICULAR CTLR HAS CAUSED PROBS BY HIS LACK OF JUDGEMENT AND DEMEANOR. I TALKED WITH THE OTHER PLTS AND WE ALL AGREE THAT THIS PERSON HAS A BAD ATTITUDE AND HAS CAUSED UNNECESSARY DELAYS THAT TEND TO MUSHROOM, AND GOT PROGRESSIVELY WORSE.
