Narrative:

In hartford, wi, I departed the airport and performed an aileron roll in my certificated aerobatic airplane (extra 300) at an altitude of around 750-1000 ft AGL. VFR conditions existed with visibility greater than 10 mi, few scattered clouds at 3000 ft, and no other traffic reported in the area. No traffic conflicts occurred, and no other safety issues arose from the incident. However, immediately after I performed the maneuver, I realized that I was below the minimum required altitude of 1500 ft AGL as described in the far's for aerobatic flight. As an FAA designated AME as well as an air force flight surgeon, my primary concern has always been with the safety of flight, and this is the most important consideration in my flying and medical experiences as both an AME and flight surgeon. As an aerobatic pilot and competitor, I have always been extremely cautious -- my personal minimum altitude is 2000 ft, higher than required by the far's, to provide an extra safety cushion.

Narrative: IN HARTFORD, WI, I DEPARTED THE ARPT AND PERFORMED AN AILERON ROLL IN MY CERTIFICATED AEROBATIC AIRPLANE (EXTRA 300) AT AN ALT OF AROUND 750-1000 FT AGL. VFR CONDITIONS EXISTED WITH VISIBILITY GREATER THAN 10 MI, FEW SCATTERED CLOUDS AT 3000 FT, AND NO OTHER TFC RPTED IN THE AREA. NO TFC CONFLICTS OCCURRED, AND NO OTHER SAFETY ISSUES AROSE FROM THE INCIDENT. HOWEVER, IMMEDIATELY AFTER I PERFORMED THE MANEUVER, I REALIZED THAT I WAS BELOW THE MINIMUM REQUIRED ALT OF 1500 FT AGL AS DESCRIBED IN THE FAR'S FOR AEROBATIC FLT.
