Narrative:

We departed sjc on the loupe 9 SID. I was flying the aircraft. We had briefed the SID at the gate, that included the NOTAM for the new crossing restr at the VOR. On the departure, I looked down to reference the DME for when the turn to 120 degrees was to be made. I did not remember it. I saw quickly the 4 DME reference on the page. This stuck in my mine as the point to turn. I continued to 4 DME and started the turn. We were restr about 1/2 way through the turn to 3000 ft MSL. The controller asked also what our clearance was. We said loupe 9. We continued the SID. When we were asked again if tower gave us a heading on departure, I realized something must be wrong. I looked down again at the SID and saw the 1.8 DME start turn note. The radios were busy, but I don't know why we missed the restr. We continued the departure. I asked the controller if there were any problems. He said no, but there could have been and explained why the restrs were there. He also said this was the second occurrence of this event today. I think a breakdown in situational awareness and failure to review the SID in every detail were probably the cause of this course deviation.

Title: B737-700 FLT CREW FLIES PAST THE TURN POINT OFF RWY 30L OF THE LOUPE 9 SID AT SJC, CA.

Narrative: WE DEPARTED SJC ON THE LOUPE 9 SID. I WAS FLYING THE ACFT. WE HAD BRIEFED THE SID AT THE GATE, THAT INCLUDED THE NOTAM FOR THE NEW XING RESTR AT THE VOR. ON THE DEP, I LOOKED DOWN TO REF THE DME FOR WHEN THE TURN TO 120 DEGS WAS TO BE MADE. I DID NOT REMEMBER IT. I SAW QUICKLY THE 4 DME REF ON THE PAGE. THIS STUCK IN MY MINE AS THE POINT TO TURN. I CONTINUED TO 4 DME AND STARTED THE TURN. WE WERE RESTR ABOUT 1/2 WAY THROUGH THE TURN TO 3000 FT MSL. THE CTLR ASKED ALSO WHAT OUR CLRNC WAS. WE SAID LOUPE 9. WE CONTINUED THE SID. WHEN WE WERE ASKED AGAIN IF TWR GAVE US A HDG ON DEP, I REALIZED SOMETHING MUST BE WRONG. I LOOKED DOWN AGAIN AT THE SID AND SAW THE 1.8 DME START TURN NOTE. THE RADIOS WERE BUSY, BUT I DON'T KNOW WHY WE MISSED THE RESTR. WE CONTINUED THE DEP. I ASKED THE CTLR IF THERE WERE ANY PROBS. HE SAID NO, BUT THERE COULD HAVE BEEN AND EXPLAINED WHY THE RESTRS WERE THERE. HE ALSO SAID THIS WAS THE SECOND OCCURRENCE OF THIS EVENT TODAY. I THINK A BREAKDOWN IN SITUATIONAL AWARENESS AND FAILURE TO REVIEW THE SID IN EVERY DETAIL WERE PROBABLY THE CAUSE OF THIS COURSE DEV.
