Narrative:

Level at 4000 ft. ATC issued TA (traffic 12-1 O'clock position climbing). RA annunciated, immediate climb initiated with autoplt and autothrottles disconnected. Captain saw traffic below nose at 4000 ft. We climbed to 5300 ft MSL with ATC notification. After 'clear of conflict' received ATC permission to return to 4000 ft MSL. TCASII worked as advertised.
