Narrative:

Taxied out at dtw to runway 21R. Final load data indicated a TOGW (takeoff gross weight) of 101900 pounds. The 15 degree flap climb limit was 102000 pounds. Uneventful takeoff with 15 degree flaps accomplished at XA39Z. Passing 12000 ft in the climb at XA47Z we received ACARS message of a load revision with a new TOGW of 102100 pounds. Load control said that they were notified by the ramp that 7 extra bags (175 pounds) were loaded and they were not notified until after we were airborne. So, at takeoff with the information we had at XA39Z we were legal by 100 pounds for a flap 15 degree takeoff. At XA47Z, in the climb, we were too heavy by 75 pounds. This shows how important it is to have accurate data to ensure we have legal, safe takeoffs.

Title: DC9 FLT CREW IS GIVEN INCORRECT WT AND BAL INFO AND HAS AN OVERWT TKOF.

Narrative: TAXIED OUT AT DTW TO RWY 21R. FINAL LOAD DATA INDICATED A TOGW (TKOF GROSS WT) OF 101900 LBS. THE 15 DEG FLAP CLB LIMIT WAS 102000 LBS. UNEVENTFUL TKOF WITH 15 DEG FLAPS ACCOMPLISHED AT XA39Z. PASSING 12000 FT IN THE CLB AT XA47Z WE RECEIVED ACARS MESSAGE OF A LOAD REVISION WITH A NEW TOGW OF 102100 LBS. LOAD CTL SAID THAT THEY WERE NOTIFIED BY THE RAMP THAT 7 EXTRA BAGS (175 LBS) WERE LOADED AND THEY WERE NOT NOTIFIED UNTIL AFTER WE WERE AIRBORNE. SO, AT TKOF WITH THE INFO WE HAD AT XA39Z WE WERE LEGAL BY 100 LBS FOR A FLAP 15 DEG TKOF. AT XA47Z, IN THE CLB, WE WERE TOO HVY BY 75 LBS. THIS SHOWS HOW IMPORTANT IT IS TO HAVE ACCURATE DATA TO ENSURE WE HAVE LEGAL, SAFE TKOFS.
