Narrative:
Takeoff runway 26L in atl, given takeoff clearance, during takeoff roll several aircraft given clear to cross runway. They started to move but saw us (I assume) and stopped prior to runway encroachment. Tower told us to abort but we were too fast and an abort would have put us in worse position if an aircraft did try to cross.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: B727 FLC CONTINUE TKOF EVEN THOUGH ATL LC ASKS FOR ABORT AS ANOTHER ACR, PREVIOUSLY CLRED TO CROSS, HOLDS SHORT.
Narrative: TKOF RWY 26L IN ATL, GIVEN TKOF CLRNC, DURING TKOF ROLL SEVERAL ACFT GIVEN CLEAR TO CROSS RWY. THEY STARTED TO MOVE BUT SAW US (I ASSUME) AND STOPPED PRIOR TO RWY ENCROACHMENT. TWR TOLD US TO ABORT BUT WE WERE TOO FAST AND AN ABORT WOULD HAVE PUT US IN WORSE POSITION IF AN ACFT DID TRY TO CROSS.
