Narrative:

While on visual approach to runway 28L hwd, lost contact with runway environment. Executed go around and initiating right turn to remain VFR. TCASII RA alert required a climb to 1800 ft MSL. Contacted hwd tower and received clearance to continue r-hand procedure to land on runway 28L. Lessons learned: don't be fooled by report of 1000 ft scattered! Should have realized that turning into the sun would cause a loss of visibility. Should have realized that vector onto final was too close and too high. In future, request vector for IFR approach if any doubt about remaining VFR.
