Narrative:

During climb, strong smell of electrical fire with a small amount of smoke. We followed our company checklist (emergency procedures) and returned to stl after declaring an emergency. The smoke and electric fire dissipated so we taxied to the gate and deplaned normally. Supplemental information from acn 524534: smoke in cockpit during climb through FL210. Accomplished communication procedure for electric/fire/smoke. Turned off engine generator and used emergency power. Returned to stl for visual straight-in approach to runway 12R.
