Narrative:
Was aware that airports had been closed and opened over past several days and when awakened sunday morning to a beautiful day and saw a notation on tv that airports were open, decided to fly to ZZZ airport for breakfast. When I landed at ZZZ, a local policeman informed me that the airspace and field was closed. He was in contact with FAA and gave them all information (name address, certificate, license number etc). He informed me that plane was not to be flown out and I assured him that it would not be. Approximately 40 min later, I called FAA in XXX to verify the situation and to make sure they had all the necessary information. Tied the airplane down and got a ride home. Problem arose because I relied on unofficial information and did not get a complete preflight briefing. Corrective action will be to get more official preflight information. This is the only violation I have ever had in over 50 yrs of flying.
