Narrative:
I flew from my grass farm field to another grass runway 5 miles to the east. When I arrived, I was informed that due to the world trade center attack, all airspace was closed to VFR flight. Only IFR flight was allowed. Throughout the week, I had followed news reports of the tragedy and on thursday saw that the airspace was opened to civil aviation. Sometime between thursday and saturday morning, that changed. Unless I am flying cross-country and marginal weather is on the route, I don't use FSS in AAA. I have a hand held radio and have operated at several class D airports including cleveland burke, battle creek, mi, A20, gary, in, and meigs, chicago. In the future, with similar circumstances, I will contact FSS before deciding to fly.
