Narrative:
Cvg controller cleared boeing 767 into position and hold while we were on 3 mi final for landing. Winds were calm. Due to another aircraft on landing rollout ahead of B767, the B767 did not apply takeoff thrust until we were 14 seconds from touchdown. At approximately 1/2 mi from landing we rolled 20 degrees angle of bank from side to side in rising jet blast mixed with vortices. Captain contacted controller via telephone later noting TCASII showed 10 mi clear behind us, why not have B767 wait until we landed? Controller responded that maneuver was legal. It should be noted that following morning controllers at cvg chastised us for slowing to confign speeds listed in flight standards manual (155 KIAS) prior to final when we should have maintained 180 KIAS until final (5.7 DME). Approach controllers normally do state these instructions but did not on the morning of oct/mon/01. Further, tower never issued instructions from 9 mi final to 'speed up,' slow down, or anything. 20 second 'butt chewing' was issued by tower at conclusion of landing rollout while taxiing clear of active runway. Meanwhile 4 other aircraft were on final for landing with frequency (tower) clobbered by tower issuing wrongful chastisement. Additional detail: tower supervisor informed captain on oct/sun/01, that we always have the option of executing a go around if we don't like what we see, the sequence was legal, and tower saw no problem with the distance. Captain responded that sequence may have been legal, but was it prudent? (Captain has attended FAA controller training.)

Title: CREW GOT HVY BLAST TURB FROM B767 DEPARTING 14 SECONDS AHEAD OF LNDG CL65 AT CVG.
Narrative: CVG CTLR CLRED BOEING 767 INTO POS AND HOLD WHILE WE WERE ON 3 MI FINAL FOR LNDG. WINDS WERE CALM. DUE TO ANOTHER ACFT ON LNDG ROLLOUT AHEAD OF B767, THE B767 DID NOT APPLY TKOF THRUST UNTIL WE WERE 14 SECONDS FROM TOUCHDOWN. AT APPROX 1/2 MI FROM LNDG WE ROLLED 20 DEGS ANGLE OF BANK FROM SIDE TO SIDE IN RISING JET BLAST MIXED WITH VORTICES. CAPT CONTACTED CTLR VIA TELEPHONE LATER NOTING TCASII SHOWED 10 MI CLR BEHIND US, WHY NOT HAVE B767 WAIT UNTIL WE LANDED? CTLR RESPONDED THAT MANEUVER WAS LEGAL. IT SHOULD BE NOTED THAT FOLLOWING MORNING CTLRS AT CVG CHASTISED US FOR SLOWING TO CONFIGN SPDS LISTED IN FLT STANDARDS MANUAL (155 KIAS) PRIOR TO FINAL WHEN WE SHOULD HAVE MAINTAINED 180 KIAS UNTIL FINAL (5.7 DME). APCH CTLRS NORMALLY DO STATE THESE INSTRUCTIONS BUT DID NOT ON THE MORNING OF OCT/MON/01. FURTHER, TWR NEVER ISSUED INSTRUCTIONS FROM 9 MI FINAL TO 'SPD UP,' SLOW DOWN, OR ANYTHING. 20 SECOND 'BUTT CHEWING' WAS ISSUED BY TWR AT CONCLUSION OF LNDG ROLLOUT WHILE TAXIING CLR OF ACTIVE RWY. MEANWHILE 4 OTHER ACFT WERE ON FINAL FOR LNDG WITH FREQ (TWR) CLOBBERED BY TWR ISSUING WRONGFUL CHASTISEMENT. ADDITIONAL DETAIL: TWR SUPVR INFORMED CAPT ON OCT/SUN/01, THAT WE ALWAYS HAVE THE OPTION OF EXECUTING A GAR IF WE DON'T LIKE WHAT WE SEE, THE SEQUENCE WAS LEGAL, AND TWR SAW NO PROB WITH THE DISTANCE. CAPT RESPONDED THAT SEQUENCE MAY HAVE BEEN LEGAL, BUT WAS IT PRUDENT? (CAPT HAS ATTENDED FAA CTLR TRAINING.)
