Always try to 'miss' VOR's to avoid any conflicting traffic flying on autoplt/GPS by leading the VOR at least 1/2 NM to a side. Was on long-range map view and turned too early.

Title: USING A TECHNIQUE TO AVOID TFC BY TURNING EARLY WHEN XING A VOR, A PLT, USING HIS LONG RANGE MAP VIEW, TURNS TOO EARLY OVER THE HUO VOR.
Narrative: ALWAYS TRY TO 'MISS' VOR'S TO AVOID ANY CONFLICTING TFC FLYING ON AUTOPLT/GPS BY LEADING THE VOR AT LEAST 1/2 NM TO A SIDE. WAS ON LONG-RANGE MAP VIEW AND TURNED TOO EARLY.
