Narrative:
Flight #abcd elm to pit. Upon departing runway 24 prior to acceleration altitude, received lavatory smoke EICAS indication and aural warning in cabin. Flight attendant notified us that alarm was on, but there was no smoke indication in the cabin. First officer and I notified departure that there was a lavatory smoke indication with no smoke and requested a return to field. We performed appropriate checklists, notified operations of the situation. On downwind of runway 24 the lavatory smoke EICAS indication cleared and we returned to field. Tower initiated alert of and dispatched local fire auths who were put on alert. Upon reaching gate, passenger were deplaned. Fire auths checked the lavatory. No smoke or damage was detected. Contacted maintenance control, followed their instructions to test system. System reset itself performed system check. System checked good. No further action required. Aircraft returned to service.

Narrative: FLT #ABCD ELM TO PIT. UPON DEPARTING RWY 24 PRIOR TO ACCELERATION ALT, RECEIVED LAVATORY SMOKE EICAS INDICATION AND AURAL WARNING IN CABIN. FLT ATTENDANT NOTIFIED US THAT ALARM WAS ON, BUT THERE WAS NO SMOKE INDICATION IN THE CABIN. FO AND I NOTIFIED DEP THAT THERE WAS A LAVATORY SMOKE INDICATION WITH NO SMOKE AND REQUESTED A RETURN TO FIELD. WE PERFORMED APPROPRIATE CHKLISTS, NOTIFIED OPS OF THE SIT. ON DOWNWIND OF RWY 24 THE LAVATORY SMOKE EICAS INDICATION CLRED AND WE RETURNED TO FIELD. TWR INITIATED ALERT OF AND DISPATCHED LCL FIRE AUTHS WHO WERE PUT ON ALERT. UPON REACHING GATE, PAX WERE DEPLANED. FIRE AUTHS CHKED THE LAVATORY. NO SMOKE OR DAMAGE WAS DETECTED. CONTACTED MAINT CTL, FOLLOWED THEIR INSTRUCTIONS TO TEST SYS. SYS RESET ITSELF PERFORMED SYS CHK. SYS CHKED GOOD. NO FURTHER ACTION REQUIRED. ACFT RETURNED TO SVC.
