Narrative:
We were called out to aircraft that had declared an emergency for a gear problem. We got a tractor tow bar and contacted operations to guide us out to the aircraft. We arrived at the aircraft, established communication with the flight crew. They wanted the aircraft towed to the gate. We arrived at the aircraft, established communication with the flight crew. They wanted the aircraft towed to the gate. We installed the tow bar and tractor (and a pin). The flight crew asked us if we installed a strap. We called in to aircraft maintenance control, talked to our supervisor. Mr X called back and said he had just checked the maintenance manual and that we needed no strap. We relayed this to the flight crew. They kicked off the brakes and the nose gear fell. I was made aware today that there is a decal in the nose gear area. I was not aware of this delay.
