Narrative:
The company has issued numerous security directives since sep/tue/01. The latest of which requires the flight deck jump seat to be deployed prior to push back. On this flight we had an offline jump seat rider and decided to leave the jump seat up to allow the jump seat rider easier access and space to the flight deck for checking of credentials. During taxi out we realized the jump seat had not been deployed, so the aircraft was stopped and the jump seat deployed prior to takeoff. The addition of 'jump seat -- deployed,' to the prior to push checklist would have avoided this situation. Especially considering the importance of the new security directives to flight safety and to help develop new habit patterns for flight crews.

Title: B737 FLC FORGOT TO PUT THE COCKPIT JUMP SEAT DEPLOYED PRIOR TO PUSH BACK DUE TO DISTRACTION OF EXPECTING TO CHECK RIDER CREDENTIALS PRIOR TO TKOF. ERROR WAS CAUGHT JUST PRIOR TO TKOF.
Narrative: THE COMPANY HAS ISSUED NUMEROUS SECURITY DIRECTIVES SINCE SEP/TUE/01. THE LATEST OF WHICH REQUIRES THE FLT DECK JUMP SEAT TO BE DEPLOYED PRIOR TO PUSH BACK. ON THIS FLT WE HAD AN OFFLINE JUMP SEAT RIDER AND DECIDED TO LEAVE THE JUMP SEAT UP TO ALLOW THE JUMP SEAT RIDER EASIER ACCESS AND SPACE TO THE FLT DECK FOR CHECKING OF CREDENTIALS. DURING TAXI OUT WE REALIZED THE JUMP SEAT HAD NOT BEEN DEPLOYED, SO THE ACFT WAS STOPPED AND THE JUMP SEAT DEPLOYED PRIOR TO TKOF. THE ADDITION OF 'JUMP SEAT -- DEPLOYED,' TO THE PRIOR TO PUSH CHECKLIST WOULD HAVE AVOIDED THIS SIT. ESPECIALLY CONSIDERING THE IMPORTANCE OF THE NEW SECURITY DIRECTIVES TO FLT SAFETY AND TO HELP DEVELOP NEW HABIT PATTERNS FOR FLT CREWS.
