Narrative:
Student was initiating a takeoff when the instructor gave a simulated engine failure. Student overcorrected and the tail rotor struck the pavement causing incident type damage to the tail rotor.

Title: HELI TRAINEE STRUCK TAIL ROTOR WHEN ATTEMPTING AN AUTOROTATION LNDG RECOVERY AFTER THE INSTRUCTOR GAVE A SIMULATED ENG FAILURE DURING TKOF.
Narrative: STUDENT WAS INITIATING A TKOF WHEN THE INSTRUCTOR GAVE A SIMULATED ENG FAILURE. STUDENT OVERCORRECTED AND THE TAIL ROTOR STRUCK THE PAVEMENT CAUSING INCIDENT TYPE DAMAGE TO THE TAIL ROTOR.
