Narrative:
After aircraft was off blocks, the crew initiated a radio call to maintenance control to defer the following item: slat 1 overhead annunciator indicator. Dispatch was not contacted for approval. The captain queried maintenance as to the dispatch requirement and the maintenance controller advised the captain he didn't have to contact dispatch, incorrectly.

Title: A B737 WAS DISPATCHED IN NON COMPLIANCE WITH THE FLAP SLAT OVERHEAD PANEL DEFERRED PER THE MEL BUT CREW NOT ADVISED OF SPD RESTRS.
Narrative: AFTER ACFT WAS OFF BLOCKS, THE CREW INITIATED A RADIO CALL TO MAINT CTL TO DEFER THE FOLLOWING ITEM: SLAT 1 OVERHEAD ANNUNCIATOR INDICATOR. DISPATCH WAS NOT CONTACTED FOR APPROVAL.
