Narrative:

I initiated an automated handoff on an ord arrival and it handed off to wrong ZAU sector. I then xferred communication to the sector working the FL370 stratum. The aircraft was accepted by the sector it flashed at (right arrow) but it was not the same sector working the FL370 stratum. The automation did not work for handing off to the appropriate sector. It was not noticed until the controller called from ZAU and informed me that coordination was not handled correctly. It was the beginning of a mid-shift. Several aircraft earlier had handoff correctly without additional action on my part. I don't know how I missed the wrong handoff sector number. Maybe distracted working 6 combined sectors and 8 frequencys, after an 8 hour turnaround.

Title: ZKC CTLR'S AUTOMATED HDOF IS DIRECTED TO THE WRONG ZAU SECTOR WITH A FREQ CHANGE TO THE CORRECT ZAU SECTOR.

Narrative: I INITIATED AN AUTOMATED HDOF ON AN ORD ARR AND IT HANDED OFF TO WRONG ZAU SECTOR. I THEN XFERRED COM TO THE SECTOR WORKING THE FL370 STRATUM. THE ACFT WAS ACCEPTED BY THE SECTOR IT FLASHED AT (R ARROW) BUT IT WAS NOT THE SAME SECTOR WORKING THE FL370 STRATUM. THE AUTOMATION DID NOT WORK FOR HANDING OFF TO THE APPROPRIATE SECTOR. IT WAS NOT NOTICED UNTIL THE CTLR CALLED FROM ZAU AND INFORMED ME THAT COORD WAS NOT HANDLED CORRECTLY. IT WAS THE BEGINNING OF A MID-SHIFT. SEVERAL ACFT EARLIER HAD HDOF CORRECTLY WITHOUT ADDITIONAL ACTION ON MY PART. I DON'T KNOW HOW I MISSED THE WRONG HDOF SECTOR NUMBER. MAYBE DISTRACTED WORKING 6 COMBINED SECTORS AND 8 FREQS, AFTER AN 8 HR TURNAROUND.
