Narrative:
During taxi for takeoff at ZZZ discovered incomplete maintenance documentation of maintenance performed (remove and replace 1 cockpit light bulb) during transit of ZZZ. Returned to ZZZ ramp where mechanic boarded aircraft and completed maintenance documentation. Flight proceeded normally. This problem could have been avoided if I had reviewed the aircraft maintenance log during the 'before start' checklist. Even though both the mechanic and my so were fully aware of the discrepancy entered in the logbook, I should have verified completion of the mechanic's portion of the documentation. Contributing factors were preflight planning, aircraft fueling requirements, deteriorating WX and inexperienced (in the DC10) first officer and so.

Title: A DC10-10 RETURNED TO THE GATE DUE TO AN INCOMPLETE SIGN-OFF ON A LOG RPT THAT WAS REPAIRED.
Narrative: DURING TAXI FOR TKOF AT ZZZ DISCOVERED INCOMPLETE MAINT DOCUMENTATION OF MAINT PERFORMED (REMOVE AND REPLACE 1 COCKPIT LIGHT BULB) DURING TRANSIT OF ZZZ. RETURNED TO ZZZ RAMP WHERE MECHANIC BOARDED ACFT AND COMPLETED MAINT DOCUMENTATION. FLT PROCEEDED NORMALLY. THIS PROB COULD HAVE BEEN AVOIDED IF I HAD REVIEWED THE ACFT MAINT LOG DURING THE 'BEFORE START' CHKLIST. EVEN THOUGH BOTH THE MECH AND MY SO WERE FULLY AWARE OF THE DISCREPANCY ENTERED IN THE LOGBOOK, I SHOULD HAVE VERIFIED COMPLETION OF THE MECH'S PORTION OF THE DOCUMENTATION. CONTRIBUTING FACTORS WERE PREFLT PLANNING, ACFT FUELING REQUIREMENTS, DETERIORATING WX AND INEXPERIENCED (IN THE DC10) FO AND SO.
