Narrative:
Cleared into position and hold runway 8. Began taxi. Subsequently told to hold short after nose past hold line. Stopped and tried to report position to tower 3 times. Not acknowledged. Radio traffic to a departing flight to turn out and another flight cleared to land was extensive, making it difficult to contact tower. Traffic landed. When again cleared into position and hold, confirmed clearance and questioned if tower had heard any calls about being past hole line. Tower said they had not. Supplemental information from acn 531460: tower told us to taxi into position and hold onto runway 8. We started to taxi into position and tower came back on the radio and told us to hold our position.
