Narrative:

Our aircraft was holding short of runway 12R in stl awaiting crossing clearance. Stl ground called 3 aircraft with crossing clearance. I thought our call sign was one of the aircraft that was cleared to cross. I read back our call sign and crossing clearance and we crossed runway 12R. There were no traffic conflicts while crossing the runway, ie, departing or arriving aircraft. We were 1 of 3 planes crossing runway 12R. After we crossed runway 12R we were told to call tower on the telephone. Apparently our aircraft was not one called to cross, but an aircraft with a similar call sign was called. In my opinion the problem arose due to a recent changeover in company call signs.

Title: A B757 CREW, TAXIING FOR TKOF AT STL, COPIED SOMEONE ELSE'S CLRNC, CROSSING AN ACTIVE RWY.

Narrative: OUR ACFT WAS HOLDING SHORT OF RWY 12R IN STL AWAITING CROSSING CLRNC. STL GND CALLED 3 ACFT WITH CROSSING CLRNC. I THOUGHT OUR CALL SIGN WAS ONE OF THE ACFT THAT WAS CLRED TO CROSS. I READ BACK OUR CALL SIGN AND CROSSING CLRNC AND WE CROSSED RWY 12R. THERE WERE NO TFC CONFLICTS WHILE CROSSING THE RWY, IE, DEPARTING OR ARRIVING ACFT. WE WERE 1 OF 3 PLANES CROSSING RWY 12R. AFTER WE CROSSED RWY 12R WE WERE TOLD TO CALL TWR ON THE TELEPHONE. APPARENTLY OUR ACFT WAS NOT ONE CALLED TO CROSS, BUT AN ACFT WITH A SIMILAR CALL SIGN WAS CALLED. IN MY OPINION THE PROB AROSE DUE TO A RECENT CHANGEOVER IN COMPANY CALL SIGNS.
