Narrative:

While on the civet arrival to runway 25L, at gaate intersection we were given instructions to report runway 25R in sight for a visual. Due to the setting sun the runway was not in sight until approximately 10 ILS DME. We report the runway 25R in sight and were advised another aircraft was cleared for a visual to runway 25L and we were cleared for a visual runway 25R. At approximately limma intersection a TCASII RA advised us to slightly deviate. I looked out my left side window to see a commuter plane extremely close to our left wingtip. We slowed immediately to the approach speed of 128 KTS but the commuter plane stayed just forward of our left wing. A turn to the right we felt would interfere with arrs to the north complex of runways 24L/right of lax. We also felt that a go around might cause an upset to the commuter plane. We continued an approach simultaneously with the commuter and landed at the same moment. We were sure they had to have had a visual on us, but at what point they made visual contact and slide into our left wingman position is unknown to us. It is our opinion that regardless whether cleared for a visual approach, it should only be allowed to be executed in a staggered format especially as close a runway 25L/right at lax are spaced. We felt the commuter plane should not have maneuvered so close to a B757.

Title: A TCASII RA ON A VISUAL APCH TO THE PARALLEL RWY 25'S AT LAX, CA.

Narrative: WHILE ON THE CIVET ARR TO RWY 25L, AT GAATE INTXN WE WERE GIVEN INSTRUCTIONS TO RPT RWY 25R IN SIGHT FOR A VISUAL. DUE TO THE SETTING SUN THE RWY WAS NOT IN SIGHT UNTIL APPROX 10 ILS DME. WE RPT THE RWY 25R IN SIGHT AND WERE ADVISED ANOTHER ACFT WAS CLRED FOR A VISUAL TO RWY 25L AND WE WERE CLRED FOR A VISUAL RWY 25R. AT APPROX LIMMA INTXN A TCASII RA ADVISED US TO SLIGHTLY DEVIATE. I LOOKED OUT MY L SIDE WINDOW TO SEE A COMMUTER PLANE EXTREMELY CLOSE TO OUR L WINGTIP. WE SLOWED IMMEDIATELY TO THE APCH SPD OF 128 KTS BUT THE COMMUTER PLANE STAYED JUST FORWARD OF OUR L WING. A TURN TO THE R WE FELT WOULD INTERFERE WITH ARRS TO THE N COMPLEX OF RWYS 24L/R OF LAX. WE ALSO FELT THAT A GAR MIGHT CAUSE AN UPSET TO THE COMMUTER PLANE. WE CONTINUED AN APCH SIMULTANEOUSLY WITH THE COMMUTER AND LANDED AT THE SAME MOMENT. WE WERE SURE THEY HAD TO HAVE HAD A VISUAL ON US, BUT AT WHAT POINT THEY MADE VISUAL CONTACT AND SLIDE INTO OUR L WINGMAN POS IS UNKNOWN TO US. IT IS OUR OPINION THAT REGARDLESS WHETHER CLRED FOR A VISUAL APCH, IT SHOULD ONLY BE ALLOWED TO BE EXECUTED IN A STAGGERED FORMAT ESPECIALLY AS CLOSE A RWY 25L/R AT LAX ARE SPACED. WE FELT THE COMMUTER PLANE SHOULD NOT HAVE MANEUVERED SO CLOSE TO A B757.
