Narrative:

While en route from ZZZ to hospital with cardiac patient onboard, experienced higher than anticipated headwinds at cruising altitude of 3000-4000 ft MSL (260 degrees/15-25 KTS) and subsequently greater than planned fuel consumption. Upon arrival in hospital area, determined aircraft computer navigation site database was in error, showing hospital waypoint was 10+ NM to the south of the downtown area. With 100+ KG/30+ mins total fuel remaining, pilot commenced northerly turn toward ZZZ1 airport, approximately 12 mi away. Immediately upon rolling out of turn on northerly heading, right side low fuel warning light illuminated. Pilot commenced 8 min timing per aircraft operating manual for 'low fuel warning light' procedure. Within approximately 10-20 seconds, low fuel light extinguished, but pilot elected to continue with procedure and execute a precautionary landing at the nearest safe landing site instead of continuing flight for additional 3-4 mins to ZZZ1 approximately 5-6 NM away. Helicopter completed safe landing in a parking lot on city's east side and cardiac patient was xferred to hospital via ground ambulance while pilot coordinated aircraft refueling prior to further flight. Total time duration from first indication of low fuel light to landing was approximately 4 mins. Upon shutdown, total fuel quantity remaining was 73 KG, or 21 mins.

Title: EMS HELI PLT MADE UNSCHEDULED LNDG WITH PATIENT ONBOARD PRIOR TO DEST HOSPITAL DUE TO LOW FUEL.

Narrative: WHILE ENRTE FROM ZZZ TO HOSPITAL WITH CARDIAC PATIENT ONBOARD, EXPERIENCED HIGHER THAN ANTICIPATED HEADWINDS AT CRUISING ALT OF 3000-4000 FT MSL (260 DEGS/15-25 KTS) AND SUBSEQUENTLY GREATER THAN PLANNED FUEL CONSUMPTION. UPON ARR IN HOSPITAL AREA, DETERMINED ACFT COMPUTER NAV SITE DATABASE WAS IN ERROR, SHOWING HOSPITAL WAYPOINT WAS 10+ NM TO THE S OF THE DOWNTOWN AREA. WITH 100+ KG/30+ MINS TOTAL FUEL REMAINING, PLT COMMENCED NORTHERLY TURN TOWARD ZZZ1 ARPT, APPROX 12 MI AWAY. IMMEDIATELY UPON ROLLING OUT OF TURN ON NORTHERLY HEADING, R SIDE LOW FUEL WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. PLT COMMENCED 8 MIN TIMING PER ACFT OPERATING MANUAL FOR 'LOW FUEL WARNING LIGHT' PROC. WITHIN APPROX 10-20 SECONDS, LOW FUEL LIGHT EXTINGUISHED, BUT PLT ELECTED TO CONTINUE WITH PROC AND EXECUTE A PRECAUTIONARY LNDG AT THE NEAREST SAFE LNDG SITE INSTEAD OF CONTINUING FLT FOR ADDITIONAL 3-4 MINS TO ZZZ1 APPROX 5-6 NM AWAY. HELI COMPLETED SAFE LNDG IN A PARKING LOT ON CITY'S E SIDE AND CARDIAC PATIENT WAS XFERRED TO HOSPITAL VIA GND AMBULANCE WHILE PLT COORDINATED ACFT REFUELING PRIOR TO FURTHER FLT. TOTAL TIME DURATION FROM FIRST INDICATION OF LOW FUEL LIGHT TO LNDG WAS APPROX 4 MINS. UPON SHUTDOWN, TOTAL FUEL QUANTITY REMAINING WAS 73 KG, OR 21 MINS.
