Narrative:
While flying VFR traffic watch I entered a tfr established around a sports event. Before that flight I had used a duat computer terminal at my local FBO to check the WX. I scrolled through all of the NOTAMS and I missed the one concerning the tfr. I have flown without incident since I started this job. On this particular day there wasn't anything out of the normal for my flight. I just did not read, or comprehend the NOTAM establishing the tfr. I feel that the number of NOTAMS that must be read before a flight contributed to this occurrence. I read the NOTAMS that day and there didn't seem to be anything different from the previous day's NOTAMS. I discovered I had entered the tfr when I maneuvered to avoid what I thought was a midair with a helicopter. As it turns out the helicopter was a law enforcement helicopter taking evasive action to keep me out of the tfr. I was monitoring a local air to air frequency and the helicopter was able to establish communication with me, and instructed me to land. I followed his instructions. I have given it a great deal of thought to preventing this kind of thing from happening again. It seems that I became complacent with reading my NOTAMS due to the large number of them there are to read. I would suggest creating a new class of NOTAM dealing specifically with tfr areas. This would enable a pilot to quickly determine the status of any tfr areas without having to dig the information out of the numerous NOTAM listings.

Title: C172 PLT WAS INTERCEPTED BY A POLICE HELI AFTER ENTERING TFR AIRSPACE.
Narrative: WHILE FLYING VFR TFC WATCH I ENTERED A TFR ESTABLISHED AROUND A SPORTS EVENT. BEFORE THAT FLT I HAD USED A DUAT COMPUTER TERMINAL AT MY LCL FBO TO CHK THE WX. I SCROLLED THROUGH ALL OF THE NOTAMS AND I MISSED THE ONE CONCERNING THE TFR. I HAVE FLOWN WITHOUT INCIDENT SINCE I STARTED THIS JOB. ON THIS PARTICULAR DAY THERE WASN'T ANYTHING OUT OF THE NORMAL FOR MY FLT. I JUST DID NOT READ, OR COMPREHEND THE NOTAM ESTABLISHING THE TFR. I FEEL THAT THE NUMBER OF NOTAMS THAT MUST BE READ BEFORE A FLT CONTRIBUTED TO THIS OCCURRENCE. I READ THE NOTAMS THAT DAY AND THERE DIDN'T SEEM TO BE ANYTHING DIFFERENT FROM THE PREVIOUS DAY'S NOTAMS. I DISCOVERED I HAD ENTERED THE TFR WHEN I MANEUVERED TO AVOID WHAT I THOUGHT WAS A MIDAIR WITH A HELI. AS IT TURNS OUT THE HELI WAS A LAW ENFORCEMENT HELI TAKING EVASIVE ACTION TO KEEP ME OUT OF THE TFR. I WAS MONITORING A LCL AIR TO AIR FREQ AND THE HELI WAS ABLE TO ESTABLISH COM WITH ME, AND INSTRUCTED ME TO LAND. THIS WOULD ENABLE A PLT TO QUICKLY DETERMINE THE STATUS OF ANY TFR AREAS WITHOUT HAVING TO DIG THE INFO OUT OF THE NUMEROUS NOTAM LISTINGS.
