Primary Problem | Passenger Human Performance |
Narrative:
Passenger was intoxicated and should have been denied boarding. He should have been considered a safety risk and future flight departments be notified and warned of his misconduct on flight. In this time of higher airline security, I think his behavior was unacceptable and shouldn't be tolerated. He was sitting and got up walked to the first class lavatory and started smoking. He disrupted the entire airplane (first class cabin to coach) and would not comply to my request to remain seated and fasten his seat belt. The captain had the las police meet the flight and the passenger was escorted off. I'm not sure if he was actually arrested but later I was informed that it would be a difficult process. Passenger should not be allowed to continue this behavior on airplanes. I do believe passenger will probably attempt to do this again.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: MD80S PAX SMOKING IN ACFT AND WOULD NOT COMPLY WITH CABIN ATTENDANT'S REQUEST TO STOP SMOKING AND RETURN TO SEAT.
Narrative: PAX WAS INTOXICATED AND SHOULD HAVE BEEN DENIED BOARDING. HE SHOULD HAVE BEEN CONSIDERED A SAFETY RISK AND FUTURE FLT DEPTS BE NOTIFIED AND WARNED OF HIS MISCONDUCT ON FLT. THE CAPT HAD THE LAS POLICE MEET THE FLT AND THE PAX WAS ESCORTED OFF. I'M NOT SURE IF HE WAS ACTUALLY ARRESTED BUT LATER I WAS INFORMED THAT IT WOULD BE A DIFFICULT PROCESS. PAX SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO CONTINUE THIS BEHAVIOR ON AIRPLANES. I DO BELIEVE PAX WILL PROBABLY ATTEMPT TO DO THIS AGAIN.
