Narrative:

Write-up not put in logbook. I had a mechanic (contract) come out to see if we had a hydraulic or brake fluid leak that a ramp person reported. They said that there was some fluid on the ramp under the main gear. The mechanic made sure the fitting was tight and we went on to our destination. Air carrier maintenance didn't think the mechanic needed to put anything in the log, since they just looked at the plane. After leaving I thought that I should have put something in the logbook just to show the mechanic looked at the plane.
