Narrative:

This was our third trip into jackson hole. Center would clear us to the VOR DME runway 36 approach and the tower would have us make left traffic for runway 18. During our third trip, the tower was closed. We were cleared for and initiated the VOR DME runway 36. After we broke out at 3000 ft AGL, I circled to the left. After landing, I noticed that circling was not authority/authorized east (ie, left traffic) of the runway centerline. The familiarity with this airport led me to not carefully read the approach plate.

Narrative: THIS WAS OUR THIRD TRIP INTO JACKSON HOLE. CTR WOULD CLR US TO THE VOR DME RWY 36 APCH AND THE TWR WOULD HAVE US MAKE L TFC FOR RWY 18. DURING OUR THIRD TRIP, THE TWR WAS CLOSED. WE WERE CLRED FOR AND INITIATED THE VOR DME RWY 36. AFTER WE BROKE OUT AT 3000 FT AGL, I CIRCLED TO THE L. AFTER LNDG, I NOTICED THAT CIRCLING WAS NOT AUTH E (IE, L TFC) OF THE RWY CTRLINE. THE FAMILIARITY WITH THIS ARPT LED ME TO NOT CAREFULLY READ THE APCH PLATE.
