Narrative:
On idale RNAV 1 departure, at idale intersection, started turn towards bty VOR instead of proceeding to shead intersection. ATC caught turn towards bty and gave radar vector to shead intersection. I feel what the probable cause of problem was putting in wrong transition in FMS from idale intersection. The best way to prevent occurrence would be to double- and triplechk departure route in FMC. Supplemental information from acn 536325: ATC caught the turn to bty and gave radar vector to shead intersection and gave phone number to call on landing.
