Narrative:
The nose tires were found worn. When I get a tire change cart I check for which side the tires for the aircraft type that I'm working on are so when I pull up to the landing gear, those tires will be facing the landing gear. That way I don't have to walk around to the other side to get the tires. A cart may have B737-300 on one side and -200 tires on the other side. I must have pulled the tire cart up facing the wrong way. On the morning of jan/thu/02, we had torrential rain. While changing these tires I was kneeling in an inch of running water past the tires. I failed to catch the -200 part numbers when I wrote the cards out. The problem was caught when entered into computer. Today, feb/tue/02, I was notified of problem. Been off for couple days. I now carry part numbers for all tires to check each time, and check tires more thoroughly.
