Narrative:
Slush (ice) on runway for takeoff. Result: damaged metal (undercarriage) by left main landing gear. Wires left hanging. In-flight: flight attendants told by purser (who had been told by captain) problem on aircraft. Great communication between cockpit and flight attendants. We were always aware of next step. We had a briefing (flight attendants), got out our manuals to review for possible evacuate/evacuation. All calm. Didn't have to brief passenger. Had 'fly-by' over dfw airport -- perfect -- low and slow perfect landing.
