Narrative:
I was on downwind for runway 17L and was inside of another aircraft tower advised me, by wrong n-number, to enter right base for runway 17R. I had been previously cleared runway 17L and was following a bonanza going to runway 17R. I did not hear the change to runway 17R and thought the aircraft I was following was the one touching down. I turned an immediate base for short final to runway 17L and did not see the bonanza I was following in fact was on an extended final. Saw him at last min and did not have to take evasive other than slow approach speed. Aircraft behind him that I was then in front did have to do s-turns for spacing. I did not hear runway change another pilot following said the tower changed us both. Correction: be more aware of possible last min runway changes and more observant for other aircraft in class D airspace, even when tower requests change, ie, close in base, short final.

Title: NMAC BTWN A PIPER CHEROKEE TURNING SHORT FINAL TO THE WRONG PARALLEL RWY AND A BEECH B35 ON FINAL. RPTING PLT OF THE CHEROKEE SLOWED TO AVOID THE B35. THE RPTR DID NOT HEAR THE TWR GIVE HIM A RWY CHANGE.
