Narrative:
On the dylin 1 into ewr, strong tailwind, were above VNAV patch for the descent. Captain removed the 'at or above' altitudes and replaced them with hard altitudes and then used level change. I was still flying, the captain was calling in range and getting the ATIS. We were 300 ft below the altitude called for at somto intersection. Recommend not changing the at or above altitudes in FMS to hard altitudes, better xchk of each other, and start the descent sooner with a tailwind.

Narrative: ON THE DYLIN 1 INTO EWR, STRONG TAILWIND, WERE ABOVE VNAV PATCH FOR THE DSCNT. CAPT REMOVED THE 'AT OR ABOVE' ALTS AND REPLACED THEM WITH HARD ALTS AND THEN USED LEVEL CHANGE. I WAS STILL FLYING, THE CAPT WAS CALLING IN RANGE AND GETTING THE ATIS. WE WERE 300 FT BELOW THE ALT CALLED FOR AT SOMTO INTXN. RECOMMEND NOT CHANGING THE AT OR ABOVE ALTS IN FMS TO HARD ALTS, BETTER XCHK OF EACH OTHER, AND START THE DSCNT SOONER WITH A TAILWIND.
