Narrative:
We were on the pdz 4 arrival, anticipating getting runway 25L. We wanted and asked for runway 24R. The first officer was flying, in navigation mode with the localizer for runway 25L in the VOR/localizer. We were given a delay vector to expect to intercept the localizer for runway 24R. Without checking what frequency was correct, I dialed in the same as the first officer (runway 25L). Neither one of us checked the approach plate. Each of us had them in front of our faces, on the yoke. Then we got a vector to join the localizer for runway 24R. We intercepted the localizer for runway 25L. At approximately 20 mi out, the controller told us we were tracking runway 25L localizer, we turned about 30 degrees right and intercepted the correct one. In the future, even in VFR conditions, I will check and identify the localizer frequencys (and VOR/ADF!).

Title: MD83 FLC FOLLOWED THE WRONG RWY LOC DUE TO THE CAPT TUNING IN THE WRONG LOC FREQ.
Narrative: WE WERE ON THE PDZ 4 ARR, ANTICIPATING GETTING RWY 25L. WE WANTED AND ASKED FOR RWY 24R. THE FO WAS FLYING, IN NAV MODE WITH THE LOC FOR RWY 25L IN THE VOR/LOC. WE WERE GIVEN A DELAY VECTOR TO EXPECT TO INTERCEPT THE LOC FOR RWY 24R. WITHOUT CHKING WHAT FREQ WAS CORRECT, I DIALED IN THE SAME AS THE FO (RWY 25L). NEITHER ONE OF US CHKED THE APCH PLATE. EACH OF US HAD THEM IN FRONT OF OUR FACES, ON THE YOKE. THEN WE GOT A VECTOR TO JOIN THE LOC FOR RWY 24R. WE INTERCEPTED THE LOC FOR RWY 25L. AT APPROX 20 MI OUT, THE CTLR TOLD US WE WERE TRACKING RWY 25L LOC, WE TURNED ABOUT 30 DEGS R AND INTERCEPTED THE CORRECT ONE. IN THE FUTURE, EVEN IN VFR CONDITIONS, I WILL CHK AND IDENT THE LOC FREQS (AND VOR/ADF!).
