Narrative:
After departing pit, cleaning up the aircraft confign and approaching our initially assigned altitude (5000 ft), the captain and I noted our speed was rapidly approaching 250 KTS. Our FMA at the time indicated 'speed engaged' and 'thrust: climb.' the captain pulled the speed select knob and selected 250 KTS, but the aircraft continued to accelerate through 250 KTS, even though by this time we had been issued and were executing a climb to 14000 ft. The captain had to disconnect the autothrust and manually reduce thrust in order to return to the desired speed. After the autothrust was re-engaged, the system operated normally. After discussing the incident we realized that I (the first officer) had failed to enter 'green DOT' speed on the climb page of the mcdu. However, this should have only resulted in the aircraft climbing at 250 KTS in 'speed engage' mode.

Title: A319 FLC EXCEEDED MAX AIRSPD BELOW 10000 FT DUE TO MISPROGRAMMING THE MCP AND FMS. THE ACFT SPD WAS REDUCED AT ONCE AFTER MISTAKE WAS NOTED.
Narrative: AFTER DEPARTING PIT, CLEANING UP THE ACFT CONFIGN AND APCHING OUR INITIALLY ASSIGNED ALT (5000 FT), THE CAPT AND I NOTED OUR SPD WAS RAPIDLY APCHING 250 KTS. OUR FMA AT THE TIME INDICATED 'SPD ENGAGED' AND 'THRUST: CLB.' THE CAPT PULLED THE SPD SELECT KNOB AND SELECTED 250 KTS, BUT THE ACFT CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE THROUGH 250 KTS, EVEN THOUGH BY THIS TIME WE HAD BEEN ISSUED AND WERE EXECUTING A CLB TO 14000 FT. THE CAPT HAD TO DISCONNECT THE AUTOTHRUST AND MANUALLY REDUCE THRUST IN ORDER TO RETURN TO THE DESIRED SPD. AFTER THE AUTOTHRUST WAS RE-ENGAGED, THE SYS OPERATED NORMALLY. AFTER DISCUSSING THE INCIDENT WE REALIZED THAT I (THE FO) HAD FAILED TO ENTER 'GREEN DOT' SPD ON THE CLB PAGE OF THE MCDU. HOWEVER, THIS SHOULD HAVE ONLY RESULTED IN THE ACFT CLBING AT 250 KTS IN 'SPD ENGAGE' MODE.
