Narrative:
During taxi for takeoff on runway 23 in yyz, the aircraft taxied on taxiway Q and held short of active runway 23. No aircraft were observed on final or landing. The tower instructed us to position and hold runway 23 and stated 'air carrier X, for your information, the hold short line is behind you.' on the runway we noted the hold short line was actually located at the intxns of taxiway Q and taxiway H, not at the end of taxiway Q. Factors involved the following: there was standing water on taxiway Q where the hold short was located. We were facing east with a west sun and the glare made it very difficult to see the faded line. The wig wag lights were also not visible. The hold short for runway 23 at taxiway H distraction us from seeing the hold short on taxiway Q due to their closeness. Finally the crew was unfamiliar with the airport because we had not been there in a long time. On climb out, neither the tower nor departure made any reference to the situation. The rest of the flight was uneventful.

Title: B737-300 FLC OVERSHOT RWY HOLD SHORT LINE DURING TAXI OUT DUE TO STANDING WATER ON MARKINGS, NEARBY HOLD SHORT LINES FOR ANOTHER RWY AND THEIR UNFAMILIARITY WITH THE ARPT.
Narrative: DURING TAXI FOR TKOF ON RWY 23 IN YYZ, THE ACFT TAXIED ON TXWY Q AND HELD SHORT OF ACTIVE RWY 23. NO ACFT WERE OBSERVED ON FINAL OR LNDG. THE TWR INSTRUCTED US TO POS AND HOLD RWY 23 AND STATED 'ACR X, FOR YOUR INFO, THE HOLD SHORT LINE IS BEHIND YOU.' ON THE RWY WE NOTED THE HOLD SHORT LINE WAS ACTUALLY LOCATED AT THE INTXNS OF TXWY Q AND TXWY H, NOT AT THE END OF TXWY Q. FACTORS INVOLVED THE FOLLOWING: THERE WAS STANDING WATER ON TXWY Q WHERE THE HOLD SHORT WAS LOCATED. WE WERE FACING E WITH A W SUN AND THE GLARE MADE IT VERY DIFFICULT TO SEE THE FADED LINE. THE WIG WAG LIGHTS WERE ALSO NOT VISIBLE. THE HOLD SHORT FOR RWY 23 AT TXWY H DISTR US FROM SEEING THE HOLD SHORT ON TXWY Q DUE TO THEIR CLOSENESS. FINALLY THE CREW WAS UNFAMILIAR WITH THE ARPT BECAUSE WE HAD NOT BEEN THERE IN A LONG TIME. ON CLBOUT, NEITHER THE TWR NOR DEP MADE ANY REF TO THE SIT. THE REST OF THE FLT WAS UNEVENTFUL.
