Narrative:
I was instructing on radar east position. The trainee was vectoring a C172 downwind for a practice ILS approach and a B737 for an ILS to the same runway. There was another B737 on approach to a crossing runway. The trainee turned the B737 to intercept the localizer. I told him that wouldn't work, meaning he was a tie with the other B737. The supervisor entered the radar room at this time and said, 'what are you doing, turn the B737 north.' the trainee did as instructed and loss of separation with the C172 occurred.

Title: SUPVR AT OMA APCH INSTRUCTS A TRAINEE TO TURN OUT A B737 CAUSING A LOSS OF SEPARATION WITH A C172.
Narrative: I WAS INSTRUCTING ON RADAR E POS. THE TRAINEE WAS VECTORING A C172 DOWNWIND FOR A PRACTICE ILS APCH AND A B737 FOR AN ILS TO THE SAME RWY. THERE WAS ANOTHER B737 ON APCH TO A XING RWY. THE TRAINEE TURNED THE B737 TO INTERCEPT THE LOC. I TOLD HIM THAT WOULDN'T WORK, MEANING HE WAS A TIE WITH THE OTHER B737. THE SUPVR ENTERED THE RADAR ROOM AT THIS TIME AND SAID, 'WHAT ARE YOU DOING, TURN THE B737 N.' THE TRAINEE DID AS INSTRUCTED AND LOSS OF SEPARATION WITH THE C172 OCCURRED.
