Narrative:

When I relieved previous controller he gave a complete briefing except to describe all aircraft gone from the sector as 'snugged up.' this is a technique we use to indicate we are/were no longer in communication with the aircraft. When the aircraft exited my airspace (approximately 3 mins after taking over the position) I attempted to drop the track on the aircraft. The aircraft would not drop off because I still had track control. I then handed the aircraft off to ZAB. Further investigation showed that earlier the aircraft would not process normally to ZAB and had been manually handed off and coordination. A more thorough briefing stating the circumstances of that aircraft would have eliminated the confusion.

A MORE THOROUGH BRIEFING STATING THE CIRCUMSTANCES OF THAT ACFT WOULD HAVE ELIMINATED THE CONFUSION.
